Today we have a resource recommendation…for educators and parents.
The Character Lab is an organization whose mission it is to connect researchers and educators, creating “greater knowledge about the conditions that lead to social, emotional, academic, and physical well-being for young people throughout the country.”
After reading that, I could tell the organization was aligned with our drive here toward human-centered schooling.
Educators and parents have free access to two types of deliverables to support the connection between research and educators/parents:
- Playbooks – Each playbook brief with three sections: why the character strength is important, questions to gauge the level of the strength, and suggestions for creating the conditions to model, celebrate and enable the strength. Check out the Curiosity Playbook!
- Tip of the Week – This is a brief newsletter (can be read in 60 seconds!), usually written by famed psychologist and Character Lab founder, Angela Duckworth, that communicates recent research and actionable advice. Check out Cultivating Confidence.
The growing libraries of Playbooks, Tip of the Week and a place to subscribe to the newsletter are all available at https://characterlab.org.
