#24 of 60: How can information from newsletters accelerate our learning?🤔

By Randy Ziegenfuss

The power of the newsletter.

Yes…it can be another email, but a good newsletter can scale your learning.

What are some of the best newsletters with content to support the work of school transformation? Here are just five that I find very helpful. Sign up for the ones you find interesting! (if you aren’t already signed up!)

Education Reimagined – Several different newsletters focused on learner-centered education. I think Education Reimagined is the premier learner-centered organization, and I read every word of their newsletters!

Getting Smart – Another organization focused on transformation in education, Getting Smart posts content daily and shares select pieces (including a podcast) in a weekly newsletter.

Next Generation Learning Challenges – Another organization really focused on educational transformation, their weekly newsletter features great stories and resources supporting their initiatives such as their Transformation Design initiative.

Aurora Institute – More sporadic, newsletters link to research and policy initiatives relevant to educational transformation.

KnowledgeWorks – A weekly share with relevant blog posts, excellent research and whitepapers (including foresight) and featured blogs around the web

About Working At The Edge:

My name is Randy Ziegenfuss, and I'm a retired public school superintendent and a life-long educator with over 34 years experience developing a passion for teaching, learning, leadership and technology. <read more...>

I first came across the phrase working at the edge while learning about the work of Marzano, et al. School Leadership That Works: From Research to Results. In this work, the researchers define 21 responsibilities of the school leader, one being change agent. A change agent is defined as one who is, "...willing to challenge school practices that have been in place for a long time and promoting the value of working at the edge of one's competence."
