What’s missing from your journey to transform schooling?

By Randy Ziegenfuss

WHAT

60 provocations + 60 mindset shifts = transform the way our kids learn

Come join a new conversation about school transformation, examining the intersection of

  1. Human-centered LEARNING
  2. Human-centered LEADERSHIP
  3. The LONGVIEW (strategic foresight)
  4. Human LONGEVITY (and, of course, vitality)

Through a daily provocation uncovering current research and practice in areas directly and indirectly impacting education, schooling and learning beyond the present, let’s explore how these domains (and others we might discover along the way!) create a unique synergy for transformation, generating and sharing new content and ideas..

WHEN

Beginning Monday, February 1, for 60 consecutive days.

WHO

Anyone interested in transforming the current narrative of K12 education to be fully human-centered. This includes all stakeholders, young learners through adults in all roles–teachers, leaders, policymakers, community members, etc. This includes you!

WHERE

Join the Facebook Group to engage with the daily provocation. I’ll also crosspost to my blog, and other social media channels where interaction can happen as well.

WHY

Since retiring from public education after 34 years, I have become more convinced there is something that lies at the intersection of the above four areas that can help us approach transforming the current K12 system in new ways. Let’s uncover that something–that framework– together!

And after 60 days of conversation, we will all be farther along on our personal and organizational transformation.

HOW

Click on over to the Facebook Group and let’s start chatting February 1!

About Working At The Edge:

My name is Randy Ziegenfuss, and I'm a retired public school superintendent and a life-long educator with over 34 years experience developing a passion for teaching, learning, leadership and technology. <read more...>

I first came across the phrase working at the edge while learning about the work of Marzano, et al. School Leadership That Works: From Research to Results. In this work, the researchers define 21 responsibilities of the school leader, one being change agent. A change agent is defined as one who is, "...willing to challenge school practices that have been in place for a long time and promoting the value of working at the edge of one's competence."
